Absense for a Reason! Redesign is up!

I was absent for some time. For a reason that was. I took the new possibilities of Rapidweaver 6 and did a redesign of the site. There are small structure changes in that the galleries are spread differently but mainly it was an optical overhaul.

The next How-Tos are in the works. Adobe published a Lightroom update which enables Lightroom to import iPhoto and Aperture libraries and I will try it out and tell you about it. Furthermore, the editing workflow series for Aperture hasn’t been forgotten! I promise.

I’m also with my NX300M for about two months now which should be enough time for a review.

Enjoy the new design!

No Fuzz Photography. Classic in digital age. - Sony A850

Fuji became successfull again with cameras looking like classic range finders, Nikon tries to be cool again with the Digital Frustration and now, Leica takes away the rear screen on their newest M. The trend to classic photographic tools is omnipresent right now and seems to be the way to go for the hipsters out there.Read more...

Evolving your Photography Workflow #2

The switch from iPhoto to Aperture. Rating and Tagging.

So, we succeeded porting our iPhoto library to Aperture after the last tutorial and now we’ve got a new library that is as unorganised as the one we have left. We already know about projects, albums and folders. What we don’t know, is how to find that certain picture we are looking for. Well that needs a lot of work at the beginning but it is worth every minute. We need to rate and tag our photos to be able to sort and search through them.Read more...

Evolving your Photography Workflow #1

The switch from iPhoto to Aperture. Getting your Library converted.

You're a happy iPhoto user and using it for the past years to take care of your vacation photos and the pictures you shot at family events. So far so good. As your Library gets bigger and bigger, you start loosing the overview, can’t find a certain photo quickly and iPhoto becomes really slow and a pain to use. That or something similar I’m seeing day in day out at my daily job behind the counter of Comspot Schanze, an Apple Retailer in Hamburg.

Gear

So, everybody is always making fun of the following sentence: „Hey, this is a huge and expensive camera! You must be a really awesome photographer!“
Then there are people like Chase Jarvis who stand for the mantra: „The best camera is the one you have with you!“

Well, we all like to talk about gear and we all know that there are certain boundaries to cheap cameras and many think an expensive camera on a novice won’t do better than the cheap ones, so let us get that out of the way and let me talk about where I came from gear wise and where I’m now...Read more...
